Witnessing the Power of Sustainable Futures

🌟 GWI 5th Online Panel - 🌟

We are fortunate to have invited Ye Huang as our featured speaker. She is a graduate of Columbia University with a degree in International Comparative Education. During her academic journey, she interned at the United Nations UN Climate Change, assisting in organizing the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference. Currently, she is engaged in research on new energy at the Global Energy Monitor, a research institution.

Ye Huang provided insights into Columbia University's International Comparative Education program, which centers on the core goal of studying education. Using comparative education methodologies, the program focuses on researching various educational topics across different regions and countries. The program offers multiple concentrations, including economics, psychology, family education, community education, and development education. Within the program, students have the opportunity to select diverse courses to build a personalized portfolio.

Drawing from her research experience in East Africa, Ye Huang believes she can now scrutinize her home country more clearly. She emphasized China's positive contributions to overseas infrastructure projects, benefiting local residents and enhancing logistical efficiency. Ye Huang also highlighted China's positive role in the global energy transition by ceasing overseas investments in coal mining in 2021.

In discussing job applications within NGOs and NPOs, Ye Huang underscored the importance of specialized knowledge, especially in ensuring a strong alignment with the applied-for position. Additionally, she highlighted the relevance of transferable skills between different industries, such as data analysis, which can significantly benefit job seekers. Ye Huang also suggested attempting to publish course papers in academic journals and encouraged active participation in large-scale events organized by the school. She believes that these experiences are crucial for developing effective communication skills, especially when dealing with various stakeholders in the workplace.

Girls Who Impact will continue to bring more exciting insights, and we welcome everyone to stay tuned for our upcoming events. If you're interested in watching the panel recording, feel free to reach out to our assistant privately.
